Paying for a fence

Ways to pay for a new fence

A fence is a real purchase. Here is how people around Wilmington usually pay for one, and what to ask before signing anything.

Most residential fences around Wilmington cost somewhere between a few thousand dollars for a chain link dog run and well over ten thousand for a large vinyl or aluminum project. Some people pay from savings when the job is done, some phase the work, and some finance it.

Paying on completion

For many projects the simplest arrangement is a material deposit when you sign, so the order can be placed, and the balance when the fence is finished and you have walked it with the crew. The amounts and timing are written on the estimate before you agree to anything.

Financing through a lender

For larger projects, third-party financing is available. You apply with the lender, they set the rate and term, and the fence is paid from the approved amount. We do not set interest rates or approve credit. Read the lender's terms carefully, including any promotional period and what happens when it ends.

Phasing the project

A common approach is to fence the back yard now, for privacy or a dog, and add the front or the side gates next year. We can price the whole layout so the second phase matches the first.

Storm damage and insurance

If a covered storm damaged your fence, your homeowners' policy may pay part of the repair, depending on the coverage and deductible. We provide an itemized estimate and photos for your adjuster. The claim itself is between you and your insurer.

We never ask for payment in full before work starts on a standard residential fence.

Questions about paying

Is financing available for a fence?

Yes, on larger projects, through third-party lenders. Approval, rates and terms come from the lender, not from us.

Does applying affect my credit?

That depends on the lender's process; many offer a soft check to see options. Read the lender's terms before you apply.

Do you take a deposit?

Custom orders usually need a material deposit. The amount and when the balance is due are written on the estimate.

What payment methods do you accept?

The accepted methods are listed on your written estimate and invoice.

Can I split a big project into phases?

Yes. Many owners fence the back first and the front later. We can price both and build one now.
